Born and raised in the greater Charlotte area, Jeff Lemelin is the Pharmacist in Charge at Walker’s Drug Store. After graduating from East Mecklenburg High School, Jeff pursued an education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he attended pharmacy school. After graduating, Jeff spent all of his time invested in the pharmacy business. Starting with Eckerds Drugs, and then moving to Walmart for seven years, Jeff developed into a well renowned and professional pharmacist. This would lead Jeff back to becoming his father’s partner in Walker’s Drug Store and becoming the lead Pharmacist.
The thing Jeff enjoys most about his position at the pharmacy is the ability to meet, connect with and most importantly, help a large number of people. Considering that he spent nearly a decade working for commercial big-brand pharmacies, he admits that his biggest dislike of the industry is the necessary evil known as insurance and the need for prior authorization of medication. Jeff likes to stress the fact that many people have the wrong impression of family owned and operated pharmacies. He emphasized that once a prescription is run through an insurance, the majority of times the price is the same no matter where you go. He also underscores the fact that when talking about cash prices, Walker’s Drug Store is competitive with and in many instances lower than the big name brands such as Walmart and CVS.
Jeff runs the pharmacy on the principle that they’re in the business of selling medicine and making people feel better. You will always walk through the door and be greeted by a smiling, friendly face. At the end of the day, the guarantee is that every customer will have a positive experience from the time they enter the door to the time they leave.
Jeff is married to wife Christina, and they have four kids together – Zephaniah, Finlay-Rose, Weston and Savanna-Lee. When not behind the counter, Jeff enjoys golf, likes working out and riding bikes with the kids.
